CUT US SOME SLACK

"Do what you love."
This is something all of us have heard at least a million times. Everybody that loves us, want us to be happy. They want us to do things that make us feel alive. Parents let us choose our professions, friends support us, people encourage us, etc etc.

But are people always going to be encouraging of what you do? Do people really deep down want us to do things that we love? Or is it what they want to see us do?

When an actor does a film, everybody seems to be a critic. Everybody seems to be judging the actor based on the kind of films he is doing. If everybody has heard the phrase, "do what you love," why is it so difficult to let others do what they love? Why can't the actor do a silly film just because he wants to? Or why can't a writer write something that makes him happy? Just because he is a public figure, does not mean they should be making films that make others happy.

"One for the stomach, one for the soul."
This is something we all follow. We have our jobs and we have our passions. They need not always be the same. Sometimes a person who is an engineer, may enjoy photography. Why are we constantly criticizing everybody for their choices? For the kind of food they make, the speeches that they deliver? Should everyone have the same ideals as you? Should everyone make the same choices as you?

Why have all of us forgotten how to be compassionate? Why have we all forgotten how to be accepting?

Or is the world just another Big Greek Row Sorority?
